Rooftop Photographers - 1938 New Orleans, famous for many things, not the least of which is Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) - the day before Ash Wednesday, also the beginning of lent. South Louisiana is predominantly Catholic and its citizens turn out by the thousands. Fonville, along with a few of his fellow photographers, were on Canal Street on a rooftop to capture this stunning photograph. |
