Grand
Isle Bus - 1934 Mostly a fishing community still
today, Grand Isle was a favorite destination of Fonville. It was here that he
documented many of its inhabitants with names like Kristicevich and Chighizola.
Rumor has it that Jean Lafitte cruised Grand Isle's shores. This driver posed
for Fonville with the only public school transportation on the island in 1934.
One dominant figure on Grand Isle was Alfred Danziger, Huey Long's civil
attorney. Danziger took a liking to Fonville and helped him set up a darkroom
on the island. |
